Meet The Artist

My name is Maggie Holmes and I am an artist currently residing in Greenville, SC with my husband and two daughters. I earned a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting and photography from the University of Georgia. With a love for travel and exploring new cultures, I continued my studies with a semester abroad at Florence University of the Arts in Florence, Italy and University of Georgia Study Abroad program in Costa Rica. After college, I spent two years in New York City working as a photography assistant. I returned south and have been painting and teaching art ever since.
Raised in a creative family, painting was always a constant in my life. My work is influenced by my background in photography and is inspired by a love of nature, color and travel. Florals, landscapes and children portraits are the main subjects for my paintings. My work is best known for the use of the palette knife to create a signature style of loose and textured strokes with soothing and happy colors. My hope is that my paintings capture the beauty in the everyday, evoking a memory or feeling and creating moments of peace and wonder with each stroke.
